3a Competencies

Learn how to add and edit competencies including it's content (indicators, CBI questions, development recommendations)

đŸ‘©đŸ»â€đŸ’» Note: in order to create a competency framework resp. competencies, an organization needs to be set-up prior. You will find this in the previous chapter.

How to create a Competency Framework

  1. Choose the desired organization.

  2. Click the + Competency Model button.

  3. Enter a name for the competency model.

  4. Click Create.

đŸ‘©đŸ»â€đŸ’» Note: you may create multiple frameworks per organization. an organization might do this in case their competency model updates (eg.: first competency model: 2023, second competency model: 2026)

Default Competency Model

When more than one competency model exists, a specific one can be set as the default model from the overview page.

Configure Competency Model Levels

Your competency model is now created. You must at least configure one level in order to implement content. Levels help you structure competencies hierarchically (e.g., macro level, micro level).

How to add levels:

  1. Click on the competency model's name.

  2. Navigate to the Settings tab.

  3. Under Levels, click the + Add Level button on the right.

  4. Enter the level name in each desired language.

  5. Click Create.

  6. To create sub-levels beneath this level, repeat the process.

    1. With drag and drop you may define the hierarchy. Define the hierarchy before you add your competencies. They can't be moved around, once the level are in use.

You can create as many levels and sub-levels as needed to match your organization's structure.

How to add competencies:

  1. In the competency model view, click on the Competencies tab.

  2. Click the + Competency button.

  3. Enter the following information:
    - Parent competency (optional) – this is only applicable if more than one level has been created

    - Competency name (in each desired language)
    - Description (in each desired language)

  4. Click create.

Modify Existing Competencies

You can update competencies at any time to refine definitions or translations.

How to modify a competency:

  1. Navigate to the competency model and click the Competencies tab.

  2. Click on the competency name you want to edit.

  3. Update the name, description, parent, or level as needed.

  4. Click update.

Your changes will be applied to the competency model immediately.
